    Arbitrator and
    Construction Lawyer.

    Experienced. Trustworthy. Knowledgeable.

With over 22 years in private practice, I use my broad experience in construction law and my litigation background to effectively manage the arbitration process throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region and counsel clients throughout Maryland.

I have handled numerous arbitrations as the sole arbitrator and as a panelist in administered (AAA) and private arbitrations, both residential and commercial construction and other commercial cases.

    MY SERVICES

    Arbitration.

    My approach.

Efficient, pragmatic and fair — I focus on giving parties a full and fair opportunity to be heard, while keeping the process on track and cost-effective.

I’m well-versed in both institutional rules (such as the AAA) and ad hoc procedures, and I’m comfortable adapting to the parties’ preferences when it comes to scheduling, format, or level of formality.

I’m committed to maintaining neutrality and professionalism throughout the process, and my awards are timely and clearly reasoned.

I am available to serve as arbitrator across the Eastern Seaboard, including New England, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Southeastern United States. I am flexible in accommodating both in-person and virtual hearings, ensuring that parties can select the format that best suits their needs. My ability to manage proceedings seamlessly across these regions reflects my commitment to accessibility, efficiency, and providing a well-organized hearing experience for counsel and parties alike.”

    What to expect.

Prior to the hearing, I expect counsel to have read the applicable rules and know the governing law.

As the decision-maker during the hearing, I rarely, if ever, ask substantive questions of the witnesses. The advocates, not the arbitrator, are in charge of presenting each side’s case.

Because it’s arbitration, I seldom, if ever, rule to exclude evidence or testimony. However, I will signal to counsel and parties if I am finding the testimony unhelpful because it’s duplicative or tangential.

Throughout the process, I expect the advocates to work professionally with each other and to be respectful to all involved.

I strongly favor the use of technology to streamline arbitration proceedings and evidentiary hearings, ensuring that the process is efficient, organized, and accessible. Rather than relying on cumbersome paper binders, I encourage digital presentation of evidence and case materials, which allows for clearer communication and easier navigation during hearings. I am proficient in Zoom and other platforms that support virtual hearings, document sharing, and electronic case management. My approach reduces logistical burdens and helps counsel focus on advocacy, knowing that the hearing will be conducted in a modern, well-managed, and technology-friendly environment.

    Neutral Evaluation Services.

I provide impartial assessments of construction disputes to help companies resolve them efficiently and cost-effectively. By offering an objective legal evaluation, I clarify the strengths and weaknesses of each party’s position, identify potential risks, and outline practical pathways toward resolution. This service helps construction businesses avoid prolonged litigation, reduce uncertainty, and make informed decisions that protect both projects and relationships.

    General Counsel Services.

We offer our construction clients throughout Maryland legal counsel that is tailored to their particular needs.

This service is specifically designed for small to mid-size clients, providing ongoing legal representation, advice, and counsel comparable to in-house counsel at a fraction of the cost.

This service allows businesses to maintain legal compliance and risk management in a cost-effective manner.

We use an integrated approach, merging best business practices with legal compliance and representation. We partner with each client to develop strategies to increase stability, enhance sustainable growth and promote longevity for future business success.

We review and negotiate contracts, collaborate on business concerns, and offer pre-litigation services, which involve a mix of case evaluation and legal analysis, strategic planning, communication support and Alternative Dispute Resolution to help clients resolve matters cost-effectively and quickly — often without ever needing to step into a courtroom.

    Construction Law Consulting Services.

We offer consulting services to lawyers who seek expert legal guidance in construction cases. We offer advice on contract review and drafting, all types of construction claims, case evaluation and strategic analysis, discovery and expert deposition preparation, along with litigation support.
